There are a huge number of practices that have evolved in our current societies that affect the pockets of us all while benefitting a few and unless we take some action then we deserve all we get.
If any of us is involved in an accident that materially affects our health and lifestyle we are entitled to compensation to enable us to live as full a life as possible. That should be a right that we can normally expect.
The practice that I feel is wrong is that of companies soliciting people with the view to obtaining compensation for them . This takes place through newspaper advertising, telephone calling and even accosting people in the High Street.
Poteneial customers for the law firms are being pursuaded to seek compensation for problems that they would not normally feel were sufficiently serious to warrant the pursuit of monetary gain.
If people genuinely want or need to pursue claims there are many free organisations that can provide sufficient information to help them obtain just recompense.
However there are several companies who attempt to generate more claims than would normally be paid.
The cost of all this is met by every citizen of the country. The costs of legal action, which is inordinately high anyway, is passed on to the general public through increased insurance premiums, product costs, local and national taxes while those who really gain are the legal companies who pusue the action and the direct beneficiary of any compensation.
These practices should be boycotted and if this was done by the vast silent majority these companies would eventually disappear and our outgoings would gradually reduce - or at least not increase anymore.
